I agree with Adam that you should just animate a bubble.

Sorry about that I miss understood.
You can fill it up with TP but is not very convincing. You can do it with dynamics too but that will only work with a few objects. The best answer is Remotion Phytools.But here is an example with TP:

I am not a specialist but I would create your landscape put hair on the whole thing and render out a frame. Then I would use that image as a background and work from there forward. Just like you would in a normal 2D composting program.

thinking particles are great to worth knowing even as a beginner. There are some great starter tutorials on C4DCAFE.COM for this.

Depending on the detail level I prefer to box model cutlery since it has such fine curves… I have seen people use loft nurbs an a bunch of N-side shapes so you can control the poly count better…

Here is a file with a sweep nurbs growing you can have a look and see what I have done… I also included an idea of how you could animate it. I dont have time now to make a real example since I am still slow when it comes to expresso…this should point you in the right direction.

I am not sure I understand what you mean.
I was refering to the spline control inside the Sweep nurbs itself…make your shape as usual and then Expand the “details” in the Attibute manager and you will see two spline graphs… size and rotation…/randy

I would key frame the emitter speed … do so by control clicking the little circle next to it.
If you are talking about thinking particles use a freeze node.
If you have Mograph you should be able to do this effect quit nicely too…but it depends what you are looking for.
