In the Generate Tab of the hair object change the type “type” then it will render. You can still use wind and stuff on it too. You can also make it editable. You will however loose the Hair material.

There is a a tutorial here that lets you know about a few more advanced hair options too.

Multi Layer file combines all the multi passes into a single file. So you will get the regular render plus one Multi pass render.
That is by far the biggest set of files I heard of for 450 frames.

I had that problem once but only when there was refraction in the glass material I think I ended up converting my hair into polygons and that worked….but then you loose the dynamics of the hair.
Hopefully someone else can answer you properly.

I think you are going to have to use a seperate object for each number. But the explode and “un”explode can be done a number of ways. Pfrag, Pblurb, Explode deformer, Mograph and thinking particles…. all of these except the deformer use thinking particles.
Here is a starter file….not very explosive but if you are new to TP it might help. You can also find tutorials on all these at the c4dcafe for free.

Sounds like its working you are just asking a lot of it. My progress bar does not always move either only when it is calculating a different element like hair.

Its hard to say with out seeing your scene but 30 hours for 1000 frames of animation is not unusual.

As for a format to render out, its different depending what you want to do with it. If its just a test I render out quicktime h264 since its fast and looks nice with a small file size. When I am rendering to send directly to editing i go with Quicktime animation pretty big files put perfect quality. However when rendering for compositing I go with a Tif image sequence. These are what I use because they are formats that work with the other software I am using.

In shake its called a diolate / erode node no clue in AE. You could also use a small blur. and in some situations using it as a key is not the best as you can multiply and divide the object buffer too.

    1) Put both textures on the the can and animate the alpha channel on the top texture.

    2) You can adjust the brightness in the texture by key framing the color or the luminance. You could also have a light that is limited to just that object and animate that intensity.

You set key frames for these by control clicking the little circle next to the attribute you what you want to adjust.

    shift R
    or render to picture
if your going quicktime the file wont be readable until it finishes the whole thing.

Atom Array is going make your point and Poly count go so high if you start duplicating hundreds of them.
It takes far more time but using N-sides and sweep nurbs with a spline (no intermediate points) really has been really efficient for me.

Since you have Mograph I would use a Tracer.

But to answer your question directly.
Make your sweep nurbs and make your text. Your text needs to be editable so you can move the Axis to where you want the sweep to touch. Then Select the spline used in your Sweep nurbs object an make the “intermediate Points” Uniform if you miss this they will not move at the same speed.
Then you can put a Align to spline tag on the Text object. Drag the spline used in the Sweeps into the Spline Path spot in tag attributes. Now animate your Align to spline and sweep growth tags.
This is where xpresso comes in since you can create a user data slider and connect that to both the sweep and spline tag.

    here is a starter file.
