Exploding countdown
So i’m in a editing class, and i want to impress my teach and some of my peers by throwing together a stunning countdown sequence for the beginning of my shorts.
Has anyone seen any tutorials for exploding the digits, then the particles come back together to form the next number?

I think you are going to have to use a seperate object for each number. But the explode and “un”explode can be done a number of ways. Pfrag, Pblurb, Explode deformer, Mograph and thinking particles…. all of these except the deformer use thinking particles.
Here is a starter file….not very explosive but if you are new to TP it might help. You can also find tutorials on all these at the c4dcafe for free.

Hi matt how did you manage to do the animate countdown (without the particles)?
Did you use xpresso, do you have any tutorial that teachs how to do that?

There are a few example scenes in the MoGraph presets if you have MoGraph. But the presets don’t actually USE MoGraph, oddly, so it’s not needed to duplicate. 🙂
What they do is use an extruded text spline for the numbers and animate the text field. So for example, type “10” into the text field and keyframe at frame 0, go to from 30 (or 25 for PAL), replace the “10” with “9” and keyframe, etc., etc.

To be honest i haven’t even had a chance to look into this, but last time i basically followed these steps and i could get it to work for some reason…. I think i’m going to buy the book so i can better learn the system.
