Hi Unik,
If you want to get a god conversion NTSC to PAL with Compressor, you must set the “Frame control” to CUSTOM.
I would recomend you not to “resize” your clips. What I mean is to make a PAL movie but 720×480 (or 486). The process will be easier (and mostly faster) for Compressor to do it. You can resize in FC, although resizing your Image (in FC or Compressor) will make loos some quality because must to be enlarged from 480 to 576.
Any way in the Compressor Inspector, set the “Retaiming Control” to “Better: Motion compensated.
Whichever is the system you use, the image will look a bit “jumpy”, because your throwing away images (5 per second).

Carefull because when you bring a clip with a certaine field domminace to a time-line with the oposite field-domminace, FC sets the “Shift-fields” effect automatically to the clip in tyhe time-line. But some video cards (ie. Black Magic) do the same in its own. Sio you got the field-order changed twice and you are back with the wrong firl order.

Hi Blue Dog,
This sound to me like some project corruption. In those cases I do lile that:
– Open your project.
– Open a new project.
– Select EVERYTHING in your project folder.
– Drag and dro it in the new’s project brownser.
– Save the new project.
As long as I remember this system that works for me well in the 100% of the “General Errors”.

Yes , I’ve got the same problem. Since a few weeks ago, using the old PLAIN TEXT, I can not chage the font. In the control tab I’ve got permanently Araial Black, and no way to chage it.

Hi Matte,
MPG2 allows 422 and 444 samplin, and 16.000×16.000 pixels images. In fact many of the new HD systems are using MPG2.
Yu don’t have to mistake MPG2 with Compresor. With Compressor we can use few of the possibilities that the MPG2 format offer us.

Thanks for the documment on YUV and Luminance. Its clear many things that I couldn’t understand.
I learnt the NTSC and PAL more than 20 years ago, but now with the “all digital” I was getting really confused.

Whenever I got a “General error”, I do the next:
– Open your project.
– Open a new project.
– Select EVERYTHING from the brownser of your project and drop it in the new’s project brownser.
– Save and try.
Try that because normaly its works.

Hi Khashyar,
I belong to the PAL world, but if I.m not wrong, yours is a problem of Drop Frame and Not DF.
In DF NTSC, you skeep 18 frames every 1o minutes of film. Your film is 120 minutes. So you will skeep 12 x18 frames= 216 frames. 216 frames is a more or less 7 seconds. That is the time difference that is anoying you.
