What you want to get is quite strange. To get one field from each of the sequences and put them togeter as alternative fields. There is a RE-interlacing filter from G. NATTRESSE (I’ve never use it) but I do not think can do what you want.

The graphics in the PS2, if I’m not wrong are standar MPG2 of DVD quality, and what you get in your video-out (component or composite) is just an standar PAL or NTSC sgnal. If you want to capture thr graphics properly you have to do it in a similar format (size). If you capture them in 720p I think you are blowing the imae up and you will get bad results. I think Leo is getting a nice image because is keeping the original size (720×576) and frame rate.

I posted this in the FC forum. As I say I think you can get that you want from a Desk, but not directly from the camara:
If you conect your BMDL to a video desk you can get the TC through the RS422 conexion and also inserted in the video signal (VITC. The BMDL allows you to keep this VITC, but I don’t think any shoftware cam make use of it).
In the times of old the TC was generated by the recorder or by an external TC generator. This was recorded in an audio track (LTC) or in the top lines of the image (VITC).
But want you want to do is to reccord the video produced by your camara before being recorded and in this case I don’t think you got any TC available. I’ve been recording video to the CPU from a DVcam directly from de composite video-out, but I can not get any TC in because the one generated by the camcorder is recorded on the tape and only accesible by FireWire. What I meant is that when you have your camara in stand-by its output a video signal but the TC generator it doesn’t works untill you hot REC. I don’t know if the new camaras can work different and output a TC signal when they are in stand-by, and that this TC can go in the SDI out.

Hi Daavid,
I used to have plenty of problems with the Superdrive when I had three different versions of Toast installed. It seems that the problem was that some times I used Toast 5.5, some times the 6 or the 7. I left only one version and now works better,

If you shot 24p there is not way of having interlacing problems because you are shoting PROGRESIVE. As I said when you make a freeze frame from interlaced material is almost a must to de-interlace it otherwise you will get this kind o shake in the areas with movement. Just look in the FC Filters>Video>De-interlace (Set upper or lower first is the same in your case).
Another reason why you can be getting a “low quality ” freeze frame is if you have slow-down the image and you are trying to freeze a frame that has been interpolated.
As Tom says , the best is that you use an external interlaced monitor or TV. Is where you can really see the interlacing problems.

The effect that you are getting is normall because your freeze frame it contains the two fields of the picture and probably in the image there is some movement. the playhead read; Fiel 1, field 2, fiel 1, field 2..
You just have to deinterlace the picture and will look OK.

Thanks for the tip Walter. I hope I can do it like that when I get a KONA o BM. The problem at the momment is time. In a DV time-line at least I can see a preview. In a 422 time-line I must render.
