Forget about importing the assets directky to DVDSTP, you’ve got very little contol of the process. Do it with Compressor and be aware of the field order. About the fade-in fade-outs are things that you better avoid when going to DVD.

As jeff says, the best way to clean a disk is with the DiskUtility. About defragmenting Larry Jordan recommend never defragment disks with FC clips, because in fact FC when capturing and rendering produce fragmented files to be easier to be read. There is a good article of Larri Jordan: Trouble-Shooting Your FPC System. There are also very good information about maintenace for FCP in Ken Stone web site.

As long as the PAL people can not use your NICER, which other filter would you recommend me to improve the chroma of the DV before going to 8b Unc? I get a bit confused between your Chroma Sharpening and Chroma Smoothing. And thanks for the info on the 10b Unc.

I’ve got the BM SD and it plays HD 1080 and 720 perfect. Theese are the options that you get in the View menu. However other sizes I don’t know how they can play.

I agree with you Ben. whenever i need to pick something from a DVD i use MPGStreamclip and I export the piece of MPG2 as 8/10B Unc, never in DV.

Are you sure that audio in the FC movies is aiff? I think that .aiff and .wav are just two ways to envelope the same basic signal that is a PCM (pulse code modulation) that is the kind of audio that you get in the FC movies. If you open the setting of a sequence, you do not see aiff nowhere, and If you export a .mov and you open it in QT and them you open the info window, in FORMAT you will read: 16 bits integrer….but nothing about wav or aiff. these formats you get them when you export audio alone.
