Hi
Once you’ve exported your self-contained .mov with an aiff audio track, use QuickTime Pro to open the movie, and export a wav of the audio.
Then use QT Pro to delete the aiff audio track, open the wav audio track and copy it all.
Then in QT Edit>Add Scaled the wav track to your video movie.

I haven’t tried it, but that’s the theory – I don’t know if it’ll work 😉

I’m gonna guess that he means ‘self contained.’

Instead of doing EXPORT – > QUICKTIME MOVIE, go to EXPORT -> QUICKTIME CONVERSION and go into the custom settings. You set the video and audio settings individually. Does it have WAV as an option there? I’m not home so I can’t check, but if it’s possible this will be the way to do it.

Hi,

I’m assuming you mean “self contained” Quicktime movie, right? But what I’m not sure of is what you’re really asking for. Quicktime, itself is just a wrapper for your information – the video and audio are in their own codecs within this wrapper. If you want compressed video and uncompressed audio in the same file then simply output as a Quicktime movie and change the settings in the Options tab.

If you want just the audio out as an uncompressed WAV file then choose Export > Quicktime Conversion and change the format to Wave. You’ll want to check the options again for things like sample rate and bit depth.

Yup, This what i was searching for… How a customer managed to send
me a file (SC MOV with WAV) which i never seen before.
Actually using the Conversion is slower than choosing the normal export
to quicktime movie.

Are you sure that audio in the FC movies is aiff? I think that .aiff and .wav are just two ways to envelope the same basic signal that is a PCM (pulse code modulation) that is the kind of audio that you get in the FC movies. If you open the setting of a sequence, you do not see aiff nowhere, and If you export a .mov and you open it in QT and them you open the info window, in FORMAT you will read: 16 bits integrer….but nothing about wav or aiff. these formats you get them when you export audio alone.
