The signal that you get through FireWire from your desk or gamara is just a digital video signal, but what you get from a DVD player is a MPG2 stream that I don’t think FC can manage in any way.

Go to the audio/video prefferences and open the capture-presets tab. Them look in the kist for the preset that you are using (the one is checked) and doble click to open it and edit. There you can choose the kind of audio imput when capturing.

I don’t know the reason for that luma shift, but I would rather capture (I do it like that) directly the DVCam as DV and them bring it to a 10b Unc time-line. You are over-loading your hard-disks without any bennefit because the 10b Unc takes 6 folds more of space.

To have the sequence you want to send in the time-line is not enough. Double click the sequence in the brownser and make sure that it thumbnail is dark gray.

I have noticed that with few other film looks. But I didn’t have time to look for the reason or ry to find a solution.

I would try this;
open a new project and select and dragg everything from the brownser of the first project to the new, Save , close and open the new project. normally works.

If you have used the photoshop presets (HDV 720 or 1080) for the size of pictures that you want to bring to FC, dont forget set your pixel aspect in the FC to widescreen, otherwise FC will think that they are square pixels and wont fit properly in your HD canvas.
