I’m with Walter. I only export from FC with the codec that I used for editing. For transcoding, I think, Compressor is much better option.

The 5.7….do not handle the interlacing. So just to options:
– Go back to the 5.0.4 (why did I up-dated?).
– Wait for the people of BM to fix the bugg.
I’m running a G5 2x2Gbs and 4GBs RAM with a BM ExtreemSD. MacOx 10.4.9 and QT 7.5
BTW, is normal that Boris CC3 effects do not work with the 5.1.2? Curiously if I set a BCC3 effect to a clip only works if there is another effect applied to that clip. If set the BCC3 effect alone, it doesn’t work.

Hi Ken,
Basically you need to work with three layers.
– layer1 you set your background.
– layer 2 set your B&W matte.
– layer three set your foreground. Then this foreground layer you must set COMPOSITE MODE to TRAVEL MATTE LUMA.
You will see that your foreground image only will show-up depending of the luma of the matte. So in the areas that the matte is white will show-up 100% in the gray areas will show-up less and in the black areas will not show-up.
Sorry for this basic explaining. You got a good video tutorial of Walter Biscardi, here in the Cow, about how to applay Alpha and luma Travel mattes and how to apply shadows etc.

Hi Fletch,
I agree with Randy. You need to play your DVD in a TV or monitor to be sure that has got interlacing problems. In your computer screen may look horrible but in a TV can look great.

As Ben says, If you can not open it with QT the file may be damaged on downlaod.

You shouldn’t have any problem with .wave files in FC. However if you can not open it in FC, try to export it with QT as .aiff. 48Khz and 16 bits.

If you want to export from AE in YCrCb and with Alpha channel. you may have a look to the Sheer codec. 8/10b Unc 422 or 444. Top quality,gamma independent, not rendering issues and files half the size of Animation or 10b Unc Apple.

I’ve just installed the 6.1 drivers and they do not work. The reason may be that I’ve got FC 5.1.2 and those drivers are for FC 5.1.4. In the SYSTEM SETTINGS> EFFECTS HANDLING, the Blackmagic it doesn’t appear as an option for any of the codecs. At first sight the card do not manage properly the interlacing.
Untill now whenever I broutht a PAL DV clip (lower-first) to a 8/10b Unc time-line I had to uncheck the “Shift-fields” filter that FC apply to change the field order, because the Blackmagic make the field-shift by it self. Now the Blackmagic do not shift the fields order, so I must keep the filter on. Anyway I tried to render a slow-down clip and it nevermind if I let the “Shift-fields” or not, the result is a big interlacing mess.
I’ve being reading some post from a few days ago and its seems that the people of BM are working on the issue.
I go to re-install the 5.7.3 drivers and lest see.

Hi,
Yesterday I installed FC 5.1.2 and with the old drivers (5.7.3) was working fine. Today I installed the 6.0 and this doesn’t work. While I was looking for the new drivers (6.1) I sow a note in the Decllink web site (April 04/07) that says that the only drivers quallified by Apple, up today, are the 5.7.3r2. I don’t know yet about the 6.1, but at least the 6.0 are especifically made for FC 5.1.x, not for the 5.0.x
Afeter the installation I will post how this work.
