Once again – my question was not whether expressions can change the comp name.
My question was: Can JSX Script (File > Scripts) read a JSON file already imported into as a footage – and if so: how?

What I am trying to do cannot be achieved with expressions. I am looking to change the name of the composition. More precisely – to duplicate master composition hundreds of times, and give each new comp a name from a JSON file.
Again – I have no problem doing it by reading an external file, but wondering if it could be achieved with a JSON already imported as footage.

If you want to continue learning expressions, disregard this reply. If you, however just want to get things done, I recommend the free expression called UberNumber I created a while back.

It does leading zeroes, decimal places, negative symbol before/after currency symbol, digit grouping and a few more things. The idea was to write a number expression to end all expressions and I think it works.

Is it at all possible that you have more than one composition called “grid” ? Just a wild guess, as the error, indeed, does not make sense.

You can think of “time” as “seconds”. 10 degrees / sec or to be more “grammatical”: ten times as many degrees as seconds since the beginning of the composition
