Good start, but it’s only 16bit (probably not an issue)
    Other options?

I did some blue key jobs just a couple of weeks ago. The key in FCP was perfect, but my footage was 10 bit uncompressed shot on digi beta.
The chroma key in motion was horrible.
The chroma key in FCP is much much better.

Use dvdxdv to convert the file to a format FCP can understand.
Cinematize should also work, I guess….never tried it.
If the dvd has copy protection, it’s a different game.

    Good luck

How do you right align in title3D? I don’t mean right align your text, but right align on the frame, on the safe title border.
    Thank you

  • What can I say…. I’ve been working with FCP for 6 months now after 8 years on Avid. And my system is rocksolid. I had only 2 crashes (yes I count them)….my Avid wasn’t that stable.
Indeed your sequence settings and your media must be the same codec if you want to edit real-time. So if you capture in 8 bit, your sequence must be 8 bit to.
The save problem…..I had the same problem my first week. In FCP you can open different projects at the same time. You probably have 2 or more projects open, and only named 1 of them. Just close the unnamed project.
Good luck…. I was lucky to test the system for 2 weeks before actually do any work on FCP. Now I’m VERY happy. I’m not going back to Avid.

Well it should work..I’ve done it before. Just check your alpha under the media tab (shift-f)

Well, it’s very strange. I get 1 frame of the clip with all the effects but when I play the sequence in motion there’s no media. There’s only 1 frame media, a still frame. Under the media tab I get the right clip but there seems to be a problem with the linking to the timeline.
    It’s kinda difficult to explain…
FCP is also acting strange…when I apply a key above the imported motion file (.motn) I get a checkerboard. The media just dissappears, I guess I lose the render file and since the link is broken there’s no media to be shown.

If you get the checkerboard in the canvas….NOT in the viewer and you set the channnel to RGB in the canvas (do NOT show the alpha channel) then it should work. I tried it today and it worked (animation codec, million+, best quality). Make sure you solo the track so that no other alphas are shown.

    Good luck,

We use 4 SATA disks in the firmtek enclosure. Very nice and very cheap.
