Continuing FCP vs Avid
Posted by Chris Baker on May 12, 2005 at 6:44 pmSo we have 4 Avid Ultra 160 drives for a total of approx. 5-6hrs of A/V storage @2:1. Apple offered a Lacie 1 terra external drive for a/v storage but what do people here use/recommend?

May 12, 2005 at 8:50 pmWhy not stick a UL3D/4D in the G5 and hook up your AVID drives?

You should see what we had to pay for drives “back in the day”. $2 Grand for 36 GB back during FCP 1.You get what you pay for….. 🙂

May 13, 2005 at 12:52 am….because to get the G5 setup with FCP we must sell the Avid system first and the drives are going with it.

They have a syncraid sata card for Raid 5 protection. 1.5 TB for under $2 Grand. Works great, and quick too.David 😀
