I tend to agree with Steve here. Software authors/vendors should sell their GPU accelerated wares with a confirmed tested list of GPUs and drivers. It is a bit like a high performance car manufacturer saying “it runs on petrol” when in fact the engine must have higher grade fuel and not standard unleaded.

It would help to know what you are rendering and to what format. A bit more info and then the gurus here have a chance to help you.

    Who is selling VP12 for $99? That’s a bargain and a half!

Question is, has it become slow suddenly, over a period of time, or has always been slow. Is it a data drive or your main system drive?

A near capacity drive will slow down especially if fragmentation is bad as mentioned in previous posts.

Is it a “Green” drive… they can go off for a low-power snooze when not accessed for a while.

A bit of Googling will find programs that test your HD’s efficiency – but make sure it is from a reputable software company or HD maker.

  • Yes.. we are all watching! What John said about concentrating on telling the story is the core of good video making. Don’t let “effects” swamp your video. Look at the best film makers.. do they have swirling page turns and the like? Leave that to the music video guys.
And age? I’m pushing 70, and after a career in television I still am at it. Old firehorse syndrome maybe.
    Enjoy your new venture.

Had a couple of oddities, but partly operator error. I did replicate the renaming thing in Explorer though… what a strange one. Not a bother to me as I never use Vegas Explorer, but there are those who do and I agree it shouldn’t happen. Dob it in to Sony.
As with all complex software and the race between makers for our bucks there is sure to be oversights to say the least. You should try Adobe’s suite, my other job’s mainstay software. Boy, can it throw up some curly ones!
Damn frustrating though… whatever happened to pride in one’s product?

December 8, 2012 at 11:39 am in reply to: How to properly remove VHS overscan lines

I probably should have said I have done this a few times before for archiving VHS tapes, and in the PAL world there really isn’t much difference to be seen given the original resolution. Technically yes, there is a slight loss, but in reality… have a look, is all I can say.
Mostly, unless specifically asked otherwise, I leave the couple of lines in.
