From yours and others postings with similar scrambled displays the consensus seems to be it is an issue with your video card (Radeon?), the GPU. Have you recently updated video/graphics drivers or updated SVP?

I can answer one of your questions and suggest a work around for another. I haven’t checked out UMID and Streamchase though.

Firstly, you can turn off the window below your project media files by selecting the ‘Views’ button (blue and white hatching) in your project media window and deselecting ‘Media Tags. This is assuming too that you have not used the smart media facility to tag your media yourself.

The work around for showing and hiding the columns in your project media window is to go through the process of identifying which columns you want to view and when you have managed this then ‘save’ that particular layout by going to ‘View’ in the main window, selecting ‘Window Layouts’ and ‘save as’. Name it as something meaningful. If you also want to work using a different set of columns, repeat the above steps but this time save it as a different layout.

This works but to be honest, I find sticking to one type of columns display causes far less confusion and should be easily accommodated by anyone spending a bit of time editing.

    Good luck.

Mmmm. Very similar image to what I saw in this posting. Your answer might be there somewhere.

Sorry guys but that was funny! My memory is definitely like yours though John. I don’t know how you pulled that one off Graham. (I guess there is always Google eh.)

  • Hi Ed. Rather than the velocity envelope have you tried using the ‘Control’ key and dragging the clip as in time shifting. If you still have video and audio linked this will reduce/extend the play time of both tracks at the same time. Using markers and a separate audio track for your studio audio version it should be pretty easy to achieve what you want I would think.
Sorry if I have your question wrong.

  • Sorry, these two links just reveal two strange looking ‘patterns’ to me. No real image at all. Maybe someone else, if they can ‘see them’ can help.

Fair bit of processing going on with those two vfx added. You didn’t mention what graphics card you have but, since you are running with an i7 with GPU on and no crashes then I guess it must be fairly heavy duty.

And not sure why you might need the deform anyway, just for a 3d pip but sounds like you know what you’re doing. May just have to be a bit patient. Sorry can’t be more helpful.

I get the impression that you are not aware of ripple editing?
If this is the case, this is one of the basic tools of editing and can be selected/deselected using the icon, generally towards the right end of the default toolbar at the top of the SVP workspace. VERY handy tool and will do what I think you are asking about. Be aware that the little arrow to it’s right allows you to select ‘all tracks’, ‘affected track’ and ‘????’.

This one tool will allow you to insert clips and automatically move the timeline to accommodation, or conversely to delete clips and move the timeline to fill in.

    From his website Stephen;-

    About the author
My name is Sareesh Sudhakaran, and I’m the one behind this whole mess. The first thing you should know about me is that I live in Mumbai, India.

I find myself in a very odd position – of having an electrical and electronics engineering degree, average writing skills, average coding skills (C and Python) and being a professional filmmaker and amateur photographer. I like putting my thoughts down, and I type faster than I can write. Oh, and I’ve also marketed real estate worldwide and run a small but lucrative video business in my city.

    Pretty comprehensive website actually. Interesting.

Pete is right. With a bit of imagination (which we all have!), and if necessary the chroma keyer, this is a really useful little program. It will certainly do what you need Brett, with or without the arrow heads.

Make sure to explore the few options, particularly the ‘smooth route’ option.
