I am sure someone will have a better solution but my thoughts are that you are on the right track with the colour corrector. As you would know, red is the first colour to be absorbed as you descend. Hence you need to increase the red saturation until you get the best outcome for the footage that you have.

I use a GoPro and have invested in an Oculus flat lens (to replace the fisheye ironically) and red filter to give a much better result without lights. As you note, lights are your best option by far of course.

    Good luck.

Andrew. Just found your post. Have you discovered your solution yet? It is a simple matter of turning on ‘ripple edit’. Any event that you then drag onto the time line between other events will move all subsequent events further along to accommodate.
Ripple edit is a toggle switch on your standard SV toolbar.

Now this is really getting to me, ha ha. I LOVE the effect but, even using John’s suggested Glow vfx I am still not getting anything like what you achieved previously.

I still think that the flash/pop effects are overlaid on their own tracks (ie, are not an effect added to the PIP itself). Not sure what you meant by ‘I just want the box edges for each frame to disappear, without the box growing smaller because of it.‘ Maybe the overlaid tracks will achieve this?

And I am sure you know that you can edit the shape of your mask so it appears more ‘vignette’ shaped as you put it. I have adjusted the transparency of the top ‘white’ track too, to try and emulate your effect. Getting pretty close but not good enough I’m afraid.

So back to you now. Over and out.

OK. It seems to me, and how I would do it too, is that, since each of your little PIPs are not quite the same size as the others, you have placed each PIP on its own track and, using track motion, you have resized and repositioned each PIP.

The effect itself is too quick for my poor ol’ eyes to properly analyse but I would suggest a good starting point would be to place your video event (each single PIP) on the middle of three video tracks. Top track would be a solid white and below track, solid black.

Then, using masking, feathering and keyframes in the pan/crop VFX of the top track, create your ‘popping’ effect.

I was puzzled by your reference to blurring which made me take a closer inspection I now see that each ‘pop’ effect takes place over a larger area than the original PIP. Since this is the case, you could still use the above method but now using only two tracks (the black and the white ones) and lay them over the original PIP which would, at the same time, quickly fade to black on its own track.

I hope you can understand all this. It means quite a large number of tracks but it is quite simple. Somewhat tedious I guess although it wouldn’t take long really. I love your effect and it lends itself to a quick template .veg file which could later be adapted to incorporate any particular video tracks/themes that you may need.

Good luck with this and let us know how you go.

Very nice!! But now you have got me thinking and it’s not yet come to me. Bugger.

Pretty certain you will have no problem if I correctly understand your question. By default, any clips imported onto the timeline in SVP appear as a video track on top with its accompanying audio track below. These two tracks can be left linked or they can be ‘ungrouped’ and treated separately. If they get out of sync for some reason, then syncing them again is easily achieved visually as well by the way.

If you import more than one clip, onto separate timelines so they play at the same time, then your timeline, by default, will show alternating video and audio tracks, top to bottom. These can all be manually arranged by simply dragging and dropping tracks in the order that you want them, so, placing all audio tracks towards the bottom of the timeline for instance, is simple.

You can also import only the video component of a clip onto the timeline if so desired.

    Hope this answers your question.

    Charly

Firstly, if you are going to use a video to draw attention to an effect it is best not to use a video that is 46 minutes long! Or at least then refer to the time stamp at which the effect commences.

Anyway, without watching the video itself, your brief description suggests you may benefit from using a free download called ‘Route Generator’ It is a great little program that is quite versatile once you familiarise yourself with its few controls. Very easy to use.

    Good luck.

Good to hear. Although why that should is be the case is yet another mystery!

Are we talking about trying to import the same sound effect each time? Maybe that particular file is corrupt? Where did you get the sound effects you are trying to import? Obviously what is happening just shouldn’t!

  • SVP is not a word processor, it does not automatically wrap text in a bounding box as say Microsoft Word does. As Edward says, you need to enter a return every now and again (which isn’t hard).

You should be composing your text/titles ‘visually’ using the preview screen to monitor the appearance of your input.

Font type and size make a difference too of course.
