Sounds like you have your canvas set to show “Alpha” instead of “RGB”. The right-most of the 3 pulldowns in the canvas window lets you change this. Hope that helps.

  • In the same vein, and using the same right hand pulldown in the canvas and/or viewer windows, make sure it’s set to “image” and not “wireframe”. Hope that helps…

  • You could always buy 4-2GB DIMMS and 2 more 1GB DIMMS and put a pair of 2’s on each riser and a pair of 1’s on each. Totally symmetrical…12 GB total. No throwing away memory.

    Just a thought…

Exactly how does FCP 6.0.2 “collide” with OS 10.4.11? I’ve been using that combination since they were available with no problems. 6.0.2 has several bug fixes, too…

    Bernardo,

Did you do an audio mixdown before the ETT? If not, give that a try. Even if you’ve done nothing to the audio or video, it can solve some weird problems…hope it helps.

December 19, 2007 at 12:58 am in reply to: Help! What is this error message?

First of all, your startup disk should NEVER be your capture scratch disk. NEVER. Especially when you have 3 other disks to choose from. It’s just begging for trouble. I don’t know that it’s responsible for your “low system memory” error, but it’s a good thing to take care of right off the bat.

Also, the amount of free space isn’t as important as the percentage of your disks that are free. Once they get over about 80% full, problems can start popping up. I’m sure someone else will chime in about the error message, but FCP is pretty picky about system configuration and, like I said, not enough free space is asking for trouble. Hope that helps a little.

    Patrick,

At the top of the canvas window there are 3 little buttons; click the right one and you’ll probably see that “Alpha” is selected for the window. Click “RGB” instead and all should be right with the world.

  • Gabe –

[gaberussell] “The drives are all formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)”

The only drives that should have journaling enabled is/are your startup (boot) drive(s). Scratch disks should not be journaled. For what it’s worth.

  • When you do a SAVE AS on the layered file in Photoshop (I always save my Photoshop files as TIFFs) be sure the “Layers” box is checked. SImple as that.
