    a stripping forum. Hmm…

But back in the real world…been informed there’s a glitch in Disc Utility that won’t let you drag the drives (OSX 4.9 here) unless you re-start.

    So, gonna try that.

…we talking here? Very interested for my facility, and would like to pitch to management,
but some ball park cost range would help.

    Any idea?

    Thanks

  • Only problem—there’s no VariCam deck for the AVID system.

I dunno, been couple years since I (reluctently) made the switch to Final Cut as my primary
system. Guess there’s some research in order.

    Thanks,

January 22, 2007 at 2:00 pm in reply to: “CANNOT BE PLAYED’ authored DVD —WHY? Long…

the Toast angle didn’t occur to me. I’m using 6.1.1 by the way.

But still, why would that be a factor when everything else was working beautifuly
until the other changes? It’s the only variable in my workflow that didn’t change.

And the question remains, some way to determine the differences/problems with
a disc that ‘CANNOT BE PLAYED’?

…on the heat issue. I’m pretty anal about that & dust. I run a simple little remote thermometer w/an alarm on my G5 w/extra cooling fans around it and my drive arrays. Nothing ever gets above 25C/75F or so.

What’s the real stumper, it only happens when in FCP. Seems if it was bad board, or processor, or RAM or something like that, it’d happen at other times as well which it hasn’t so far.

Thanks for the input, I’ll keep working on it.

  • Strange tho.

In trying to see if I could import directly from the camera, I noticed that the P2 card mounted on my desk top as
    ‘NO NAME’.

    Which imported just fine.

So with all the folders I’d dumped out, I just changed the name one at a time to ‘NO NAME’ and imported just fine.

PIA, but hey, it works now.

Additionally, no clips showed in the camera that there was a problem with them that needed repair. Why that would be
    any way is beyond me…
