I was having the same issue. But my layer is 2d. I have a arm with a pointing finger… I need to have the position of the arm come in from the right side of the screen and then by using the puppet tool I was going to move a finger to point. But When I set the points and move the arm out of the frame, the puppet tool does not go with it.
Any thoughts would be great!
Thanks!

January 5, 2012 at 8:54 pm in reply to: Clock Hands Rotating but I need a Slider Control or something to control speedsThanks Dan – I dont need to do variable speed – I just need to set it and forget it. I will duplicate the CLOCK comp 3 or 4 times for different speed of clocks.
Any tips on how I can link the 3 HANDS to one slider???
Thanks a million!

Thanks for the reply. I did not parent the fractal noise to the wing. I basically have 3 parts of the butterfly. A body and 2 wings. The body parts were all black. That I actually made from solids. The wings flap.
I pre-composed the 3 parts into one and then added a FN effect to it and tinted it.
And at this level the FN just stays in one spot. It doesn’t flap with the wings.
What if I Added the fractal noise to my original 3 butterfly parts???
Thanks for your time

I have heard the the Dell monitors are pretty good. The more professional ones. I dont know if it will be better on your eyes or not. You just have to take frequent breaks, go for a walk, focus on things far away that type of thing.
I have been looking at the Cinema View
https://www.cinemaview.com/
looks and acts like a Apple display but lower $ BUT you have to have MINIPORT. -

August 14, 2010 at 6:11 pm in reply to: AE tutorial, i need something for this layering effectOne thing that you might have to do is to take a freeze frame of the video. Duplicate your video and you could use a mask and cut out your main character. Like in the video the guy on the snow board.
Then you would have to rebuild the background where you cut the guy out. Like you would have to rebuild the fence and the pool. The best way would be to use photoshop and use the close tool.
So your back layer is your background (pool and fence) and the foreground (guy) would be the top layer.
I is probably a 3d comp as well.Actually Andrew Kramer has a tutorial on rebuilding a background with photoshop.
Adding the effects can “hide” any imperfect video that is hard to cut out.
That is about it. Someone else may have other suggestions that might actually be better, but that is how i would approach it.

What is the difference between rotoscope and garbage matte? Thanks

I really don’t want to remap my keyboard. 🙂
Maybe there is one key that I could use. I was just wondering if it could be done 🙂
Thanks so much

Ok, I see.
I am wondering if I worded my question right. In AE you know the Effects and Presets area, and then under Behaviors, ( I think ) there is the “Fade In+Out frames” behavior.
I drag that on top of my clip and then in the effects window, I can change the duration of the fade in and out.
Many times i use a different filter or effect and then when I want to fade something in and out, I have to go look for the Fade In+Out behavior again.
It would be cool if I could click on the clip and then hit a magical key, like the number 1 button and then it adds it for me with the fade in and out frames at 30 frames instead of the default 15 frames
Actually, if there was a magical key to do all my work for me, that would be even better 🙂
