AE tutorial, i need something for this layering effect
I want to create something using the same technique as this video, at the 10 second mark.
basically a freeze frame, layers and some animation. I’m pretty new to AE and it’d be pretty cool if there were an Andrew Kramer type tutorial on this.

One thing that you might have to do is to take a freeze frame of the video. Duplicate your video and you could use a mask and cut out your main character. Like in the video the guy on the snow board.
Then you would have to rebuild the background where you cut the guy out. Like you would have to rebuild the fence and the pool. The best way would be to use photoshop and use the close tool.
So your back layer is your background (pool and fence) and the foreground (guy) would be the top layer.
I is probably a 3d comp as well.Actually Andrew Kramer has a tutorial on rebuilding a background with photoshop.
Adding the effects can “hide” any imperfect video that is hard to cut out.
That is about it. Someone else may have other suggestions that might actually be better, but that is how i would approach it.
