Because FCP works in native hdv it needs to re-encode the GOP’s to layout out to HDV tape. Luke, I believe emailed you to see if this could be turned off becouse it has nothing to do with outputing SDI. Any chance you could give it another round with apple to allow that to be turned off?

You should look at other options. I know people were using 2 fc cards and 2 raids for 2K but depending on the amount of storage you may be better off with a scsi setup. My ULD4d with 8 10k’s get 340/335 80% full. Our xserve raids would have some problems writing the 210+ mb/s you need as the drives fill.

You may also find that if you add Bars and Tone in the Edit to Tape mastering window your program will start 1 frame late. We set the offset correctly with no Mastering elements and then slates/bar-tone in the sequence.

Sounds like you movies may be at 30 fps, not 29.97. This is typical with Cinema4d renders at 30fps. If you movie looks fine in the View but in sequence the last frame is black: 30/29.97 issue.

  • This happen when you have to pick up mult inserts. The only way around it is to change duration (often drasticlly in both directions) or as we do, copy into a new seq from that timecode forward. Ya big bug, just like the 24p to 30 outputs were you have to calculate the frame differences otherwise it will stop recording early. Pain for inserts:(

If you guys can find a way to get animation with alpha to mix RT (Effect driven) that would do wonders for alot of people. Cinewave had it, and yes it would crash the box often.
