I say I don´t know about DVCPro HD, I have never worked with one, but DVCam I know for sure that this is how things are. NO TC-OUTPUT for many years!
What goes with FCP 7, I don´t know that either, but I would be veryveryvery supriced if Apple had adopted that thing back to FCP. -
FCP 3 was capable to output tc from timeline to firewire, but after that it did not. You seem to have a PowerPC G5, so you could find a free software from web called SimpleVideoOut X. It will output tc from QT-file to firewire, IF your deck is capable to read and record it! With Sony DHR-1000 I am almost certain it will not work, it is a home video equipment and it will not understand external timecode.

I´m sad to hear that kind of news, at the moment I have ZERO money to update my trusty old G5 to Intel:(

There is a free little software called JES Video Cleaner down loadable from web. It has a process called “Varying Br”, that says it will “remove periodic brightness variation”. I have never used it so i don´t know how it works but you could give it a try. I have used this little application for noise removing with great success.

I totally agree with Rafael Amador.
USA, Europe and Japan are just a little piece of global market. And Rafael is even forgetting China, South and Center America, Russia, India and many others!! We can only try to imagine how many thousands of tv-channels, corporation video companies, wedding video graphers, and so on, there are making everyday business with aging DV-Cams!
In my opinion Sony has found a goldmine. -
“So – Mac Pro hook up Mini -> RCA stereo?”
-Right“Matrox – XLR -> 1/4 jack?”
-Right, or you can as well use MXO rca connectors to go to 1/4 jack, whitch ever cable you happen to own or find.“If I only hook up one XLR to 1/4″ from my MXO2, does that push all channels mixed?”
-I don´t know, i don´t have Matrox MXO, but from my experience if it says something like “left/mono” or “right/mono” beside the connectors that will work or if you can conficure mono-out from MXO menus, it will work but in all other cases it won´t do the trick for you. I highly recommend to use two cables! -
Forget the digital outputs, use good old analog for monitoring, you will not gain anything with digital routing on this. Both your Mac and MXO2 have exelent analog outputs. Go and buy something like:
https://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/502.aspx
It cost´s like 65$ and that will do EXACTLY what you need!
Connect your Mac, MXO, headphones and speakers to it and start working. -
“Jeremy Garchow (JeremyG):
Check here:

That list seems to be very much behind times, missing countless number of proven tools.

But again can you connect your optical out to movie theater audiosystem? I would gues no!
Cal to theater and talk with them. -

And Walter, it seems like you have something seriously against all BM products?!?!
