September 21, 2009 at 12:25 pmBit pricy though – RRP is £3370 + VAT! You could pick up a HVR-Z5E for about the same price…

I think it is more amazing that the PR release has these 2 sentences in them.
The 25p image captured by the sensor system is recorded as an interlaced signal by dividing each frame into two fields. This enables compatibility with current non-linear editing and monitoring equipment that only accept interlaced signals, while maintaining the quality of the 25p image.
I think that is the very first time I have ever heard of Sony mentioning that its recording medium is PsF in a Press Release.

OTOH, the 200fps is pretty cool. I can see this camera gaining some traction just for that.

The whole Africa and Asia (except Japan) are huge market, and years away from HD.

September 22, 2009 at 9:10 amI totally agree with Rafael Amador.
USA, Europe and Japan are just a little piece of global market. And Rafael is even forgetting China, South and Center America, Russia, India and many others!! We can only try to imagine how many thousands of tv-channels, corporation video companies, wedding video graphers, and so on, there are making everyday business with aging DV-Cams!
In my opinion Sony has found a goldmine.
