Hi Todd,

I didn’t mean to insinuate it was a fault on Adobe’s part. It lacks support because they are “old” (I should have noted 32bit). Downright ancient really. Flip4Mac hasn’t changed in many years (we’ve had the same license and been at v2 for about 5!)

But thanks for clarifying that! Didn’t mean to ruffle any feathers.

Hi Vagn,

As noted on the Flip4Mac features/requirements page (https://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/tech-specs.htm) it will work with:
– Compressor
– Episode
– MPEG Streamclip

So while the answer to your query is no, it will not work directly with PPro (which lacks support for the old Quicktime Export Components) you can download and use MPEG Streamclip for free. It’s a tool I can’t live without! https://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html

Select “Export to other format” and pick Windows Media from the format menu drop down and you’re all set.

I shared some info in another thread where something like this happened. We had to delete the account in question and create a new user account. When trying to delete the account, we also tried to “archive” the account’s contents (settings, etc.) and it failed, indicating, in part, the account itself had become corrupt.

Once a new user account (with the same username/password) was created, all was well.

We now believe the issue was cause when Premiere was open on one user account while Fast User Switching was used to access something in another account and Premiere was opened accidentally. The non-admin account (admin account was used to install Production Premium) would be unable to use Premiere even though it worked fine on the primary admin account.

I’m out of my element here – but we run CS5 in three edit bays with all users (except myself) on non-admin OS X accounts without issue. Is this a Windows-only concern? I ask because we’re seriously considering a migration away from OS X over the course of the next year. It wouldn’t be a deal killer but something to weigh in our decision-making process.

I have had to create presets *within* plugins themselves. Unfortunately that means it only works on plugins that support user-made presets (like VST plugins) on Submixes and the Master Channel.

I haven’t found a way to save Adobe Premiere Plugin Presets – but I could be missing something. Unless I’m blind, I too would ask (https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform) for a copy/past mixer settings or at least “channel strip” settings functions. It would be very helpful for rough mixing during editing, even though I know it will all get thrown away when the audio goes out for mixing/re-recording.

I suggested this in an unrelated issue thread, but have you tried importing the sequence into a clean, new project? It’s my go-to solution with the occasional problematic sequence.

Set the work area bar to the markers and queue all the exports would be the “off the top of my head” solution; I’m still relatively new to Premiere though so I’d be curious if there wasn’t a better way as well.

If it was me, I’d try importing each sequence into a new project. You could even try to do it all sequences at once by importing the entire project, but I like to start slowly so I’d recommend just starting with a single sequence.

On the occasions we’ve seen project files start to behave poorly, we’ve successfully moved sequences to new, “clean”, project files to continue working.

This may not be the solution, but it could be worth a shot.

Are you using any external/boradcast monitoring?

We had lots of trouble like this when using the MXO2. We’ve since switched, but the program window continues to freeze periodically although with our non-Matrox hardware, the broadcast out continues to work during timeline/sequence playback even if the program window isn’t updating.

You could try clearing out the media cache as well as the previews.

Hopefully someone else has more constructive comments for you – I know how frustrating it can be. It’s definitely an area where Premiere isn’t yet as realible as other alternatives.
