Unfortunately, or fortunately I am on a three week job here in Sheffield on the snooker & the BBC have hired me & my piglet edit suite again.
As much as I would love to see your barbeque demo (I have heard rumours about you doing it in 4K), I will have to wait until IBC – but then all the bugs will have been sorted

Just a couple of points here from somebody who has gone through boot camp:-
1) During the installation process you will get a warning from Microsoft that it has detected hardware that it doesn’t support and recommends that you quit – The Apple instructions say just ignore the message 😉
2) Yes you need a full copy of XP & service pack 2, but then you need to do 38, yes 38 updates to get the software up to date, granted most of these happen at once, but its a lot!

I don’t know if its just a piece of software or more importantly the ability to join two GPU’s together with side jumpers.
Basically one card rendes the top half of the picture, the other the bottom, the split is variable depending on detail.

Whoa! Not true.
I work in 10bit, sometimes 8bit and I have a client that does a lot of DV. The speed of the systems is more or less exactly the same, thats the beauty of FCP.
You might think that the renders are slower too, but in DV there are the same number of pixels to munch through so it is not a straight extrapolation from the data rate, far from it.
Yes there is no ‘outboard’ hardware acceleration, but with the industry moving away from that and onto CPU and GPU power this statement doesn’t really stand.

Bare in mind that there are already 2K easy setups in FCP, what about the hardware?
I don’t think it will be a quiet NAB, there are other apps to go UB and Apple always have a surprise or two.Peter

You think so? I think it is an excellent deal for everybody to get to the same level of software PPC or Intel.

Says who? and how do you know if FCP 6 is on its way? I would have thought that every FCP user is looking into the upgrade, or indeed has already mailed the disks off. Lets face it, if you can afford FCS and a Mac to run it on then the price of the upgrade shouldn’t worry you.
So if you have bought 5.1 what is your problem?
