Yes, self contained movies shouldn’t be a problem.
Trying to read a FCP7 project in FCP6 is a problem though

Motion anti-aliases everything so your rectangle shapes actually have feathered edges to transparent.
Now this would not normally be a problem, but by butting two together you will get a gap. 🙁Sorry for the bad news

The files should just open. Can you get the compact flash card back?

H264 Play around with the compression/file size etc

FCP doesn’t have 100% colour bars

You can actually drop the native files straight into a 1080p 30fps ProRes sequence. They will have to be rendered though but it is a quick way of seeing what they look like.
