If you want to see the second field, you will need a CRT. I have a whole tape that has been sent to me with the field order rendered wrong, looks very nasty.
LCD’s are nice but if your work is going to end up on video, buy yourself a decent CRT

OK, I now understand, but I think your business model from Avid days is crumbling fast and the figures don’t extrapolate. As I said, kit is getting so cheap these days people are buying rather than renting – look at the scary post from Nick B above!
Pure business angle? Get into a part of TV where you cant do 60% of it on a laptop. Studio, OB or specialist service. Either that or own a bar.

Samuel,
I think this statement could be your downfall. Editing kit is getting so cheap that editors are buying it in numbers. This puts them in direct competition with you. What do they have that you don’t? – the skill to work it.
Where are you going to go to get a brochure designed? A graphic designer right? Not a man with a Mac who doesn’t care what freelancers he hires.
However I’m all for you and similar companies buying FCP as it will probably mean I can put my rates up.

Well Sunday is the last day of the tennis here in Paris, but the Varicam & FRC will be in Wimbledon for 2 weeks in 2 weeks!
I will ask the cameraman to chase up the sd sdi option on the FRC. I don’t know if it is hired or his own though. The manual hasn’t got the sdi output on the converter either.
Sadly no FCP here, maybe next year 🙂

Lets not even go there! Interesting though as one large London post house are hiring my kit for 3 weeks soon.

QT7 is a dog. Archive & install to 3.8 & 6.5.2 as suggested above and I bet you your problems go away.

maybe I can put a different perspective on the situation as I am actually in the UK and we have a completely different market to the States. I’ve been using FCP for 3 years now and its only since FCP5 have people here really seen it as a viable alternative to Avid. Indeed, Avid is a verb now!
If you buy an Adrenaline, you won’t be short of hire/work over the next year or so. However after that I expect FCP to kick in big time and savvy clients are going to make the switch
If you buy FCP you might find it a bit of a slow start but as more and more people do HD & HDV then FCP will gain more share.
What you should be worried of though is how cheap everything is getting. Clients now are saying why should they hire when they can go out and buy the kit themselves. The industry is changing fast.
You also have to structure your hire price of FCP to make you money, but not seem like the client is paying over the odds for inexpensive kit.look what happened in the DTP revolution – the same thing is happening in video.
If you are that unsure, hedge your bets and buy both!

Ah, maybe the FRC here hasn’t got the SDI option. The connectors on the back are
HD SDI in
HD SDI through
HD SDI out
SD out (composite) ugh!Maybe there is a way to route the HD SDI back through the deck to down convert?
It is a real shame having to resort to composite.Thanks for all the help
