Yes, that’s all true. Those individual files in the folders in the contents folder are all locked, and nothing else is hierarchically. Can’t get em into trash. Ran DU and repaired permissions…even logged in a root user and still cant kill the buggers! Crazy, eh? All other files associated with those projects deleted normally. Just the P2 card copies. But wait, there’s more….one project was done in FCP7 and on in PP CS6 so they don’t even have that in common….

I guess I was doubly unclear. The “cards” on my hard drive are copies from the original real P2 cards. So they are a series of folders labeled card 1, card 2, etc each of which contain the contents folder and last.txt file. It is these files – within the copied folders – that are locked so I cannot even get them into the trash. I have drilled through all the permissions for all users, admin, etc to read and write, applied all to contents, and yet all the media files in the folders are locked.
This never used to happen 2 projects ago.

Thanks, that’s why I posted it, so others can see what I don’t. So we now know it changes NDF to DF and Interlaced to Progressive. Now we need an explanation why? Hello, Abode??

Angelo – the good news is your eagle eye found what my dyslexic eye couldn’t – the subtle difference, which I will take up with my crew. But drat, I guess this does not explain why playback is lousy and Pr crashes a lot. Back to te drawing board, Thanks!

Thats exactly what is happening . 15.96 gb out of 16gb yellow, active. I assume that means its also using my hard drive, which really slows things down. I went ahead an ordered the ram since the investment was much less than a gpu..so now I will have 32. Unreal!

Given the continuing presence of FCP7, Red and BCC7 on my system it’s likely Premiere is simply too rich for my blood….no that’s not it, I actually resent having to plow around $1200 into a 2010 Mac Pro 12 core w. 16gb ram that cost $8K just to use one piece of software. Red runs delicisouly in FCP and so do I . PP has nice features but not worthy of the investment, IMHO.
That’s not to say I’m not curious as hell to try my machine with all that added firepower just to know what it feels like.
Thanks all!

Thanks Boris – you have a fine staff under you by the way. So you would recommend RAM for rendering and a card to viewing…of course if I could render fast enough my viewing would be real time. I have 16gb in my 2010 12 core and it’s maxed out when exporting Red fx. How much RAM would you recommend.
Given the performance in PP and my extensive use of Red, I am considering going back to FCP 7 for my next long project.
Thanks again.
