  • Premier Pro CS6 constantly crashing

I’m having huge instability issues with my first project in Premier Pro CS6. It seems to crash virtaully at random when I’m doing things in the application.

    – Opening files into the source-viewer
    – Creating sequences
    – Preforming editing operations in the timeline
    – Preforming motion opertaions (i.e. scale / position)

It was a bit “hostile” starting but was good for a day. Now, I can’t do anything almost with out a crash and I have no idé what to do so try to fix this.

System is a MacPro 2008, 16GB RAM, Radeon 4870 and Kona 3 card.

I’m running a clean install of MacOSX 10.8.2 as well as Adobe Production Premium CS 6 (Premier is version 6.01) and the Kona 3 drivers.

Not a very good first “voyage” into Adobe land… Where do I start to “fix” this?

We have been having problems with the AJA cards since our 10.8 upgrade recently. Problems in Final Cut mainly but some in After Effects. Uninstalled drivers and everything worked fine. That’s the only thing I would try to narrow done the problem.

Cheers for the input. It’s quite frustrating to have this happen on our first project but what does one do…

Do you get kernel panics or just app-crashes?

For us it’s just Premier Pro crashing at the moment. I haven’t had a single crash in AE or FCP that I can think of. Been working now in FCP the past 3 hours to re-create my edit from Premier Pro…

Why is this thread in the FCP X forum?

Oh, spookey, it’s in both the “Apple FCPX or Not: The Debate” AND “Premier Pro” forums!

About time this forums was overhauled big time I think! 🙂

I’m sure this was placed here so we can tell you how much more stable FCPX 10.0.6 is and you should seriously consider switching. 😉

I just designed the interface, not the functionality so don’t blame me!

AND that you should know how to spell the software you use.

As noted in another thread I completely re-installed CS6 with no luck. Premier crashes like a train-wreck.

Sad, it seemed to have some potential. Don’t trust this product one bit after this ordeal. Adobe’s support was less than helpful either.

Hmmm…first, v6.02 for Mac has been available since early September, so trying that might be helpful, or at the very least would keep you (us) from troubleshooting anything that is already fixed…

I think that some very detailed information about how you installed it including whether or not you are the admin account and where you targeted things like cache files is probably in order.

Also, a specific system processor spec and the kind of footage you’re attempting to edit…

It’s hard to troubleshoot the issue without more details than you’ve supplied.
