thanks Jimmy – I can do it with 3 or 4 commands but I thought there was a keyboard shortcut. It seems I am not the only one who would have a use for such a thing

I just checked out the Creative Cow thread. You can simulate moving the crop away from the centre by setting the X position on the source to the negative value of the X position on the target so they cancel out (assuming 100% scale on both).
e.g.
Source Area X position = -26
Target Area X position = 26will produce a cropped image on the right of the frame.

yes I found I can also use the matte generator but for many of the (low key/low contrast) clips I also need a (brightly colored) frame round the window. If only dh-box had a center button like the matte generato filter it would be perfect

the problem was .m2v files created by compressor 1 in 10.3.5. – (I cant get compressor 2 in 10.3.9 to behave) – for some reason these files wont even show the getinfo, but work fine in DVDSP.
The weird part – the folders open fine when the window is small so the problem only appears when the window is around half screen or more
