Hi Dylon,
The ATI video card that your system is equipped with might not be able to support the level of shader processing that is required by the BCC 3D Objects filters. If that is the case then you will have to upgrade your video card. It may however be a simple matter of pairing your video card with the right driver though, so with that said, I’d like to suggest that you contact our technical support department to see if they can assist you in resolving this issue. Hi Charles,
The top track in that setting is the Gradient media. Twirl this down (by clicking the triangle next to the name in the timeline) and you will see a track nested in the Mask track titled TEXT AS MASK. This is the text media track. Double click this and it will open the text editor, where you can edit this text. Once you have replaced the default text with the text that you want, close the text editor window and you should be good to go.

I just created 3 comps for you in a Boris RED 4.3 project that you should be able to open in Avid FX. Each of the different comps shows a different way to achieve the result that I think you have in mind. If you send me an email I’ll send you the project. You can reach me at peterm@borisfx.com.
A could of caveats – you’ll need to use BCC 6 (you can download that from our web site at borisfx.com) and you’ll need the latest version of Avid FX. If you don’t have that you can use RED instead also by downloading this from our web site.

Hi Dave,
I think the filter to which you are referring is the BCC Motion Key. Indeed, on suitable shots it works great for removing moving objects from a scene however, it does not have the capability to render out a mask of the moving object. It’s something that we have discussed in the past though and perhaps we will offer that in a future update.

Hi,
So what you need to do is to click on the text track, which brings the parameters that affect the text into the controls window. Then in the controls window, select the materials tab. In the materials tab set the face count to 1, which gives all 4 sides of the text object a uniform color. Then click on the color chip and set that to the color that you are trying to match.
To replace the gradient with a video clip, click on the orange gradient that is at the right most side of the gradient track. This will display a pop-up window with replacement media options, including video (Movie File). Select the Movie File option and a pop-up will appear prompting you to select a media clip. Navigate to the director containing the clip and you should be all set.

Hi Ben,
You can use RED to generate timecode alright, but it cannot read any metadata from the host.
To use RED to generate timecode, add a text track – you can do this by selecting the text tool from the toolbar and then clicking on the comp window. Then select the face sub-track of the text track – this should happen automatically. In the Controls Window, click on the Generator tab and select Timecode from the Generator Type pop-up.
