Hi Scott,

Here’s what I suggest that you do:

• download the latest trial version of the BCC 6 AE installer
• run the installer and select uninstall from the pop-up option
• once it has finished removing the software run the installer again, but this time select install from the pop-up

Please let me know if this works for you – if it does not then the symptoms that you describe could very well point to a permissions issue that is local to your system and if that the case then you should repair the system permissions using a system utility, and if necessary reinstall CS3 and then reinstall BCC 6.

I think you should contact someone in our support department who should be able to help resolve the issue that is causing this anomaly. You can reach them via email at support@borisfx.com.

It may be that a system BCC preference file has somehow become corrupt, or that you need to update the BCC version that you are using to match an update in AE something as simple as that but either way one of our technicians from the support group should be able to help.

Hi Joel,

Unfortunately the FX 540 does not contain the necessary shader support for us to be able to render the BCC 3D Objects category of filters. I would suggest upgrading to a more powerful video card to take advantage of these filters.

Have you tried using an AE camera and pickwhipping that to the Null? The BCC 3D Objects filters can use AE cameras or the filter camera.

Hi Nikola,

Are you following these steps:

• create solid
• apply BCC 3d object filter
• create null – set null to 3D
• set BCC 3d object filter camera mode to orbit
• add expression to tumble, spin, rotate parameters in 3d object filter
• pickwhip tumble to X rot, spin to Y rot, rotate to Z rot

There is also a free app from ATI that enables you to generate the DDS reflection map files.

You might want to make sure that you are using the compression option in the Nvidia plug-in.

You should probably make sure that the file is 512 x 512 k maximum and that the permissions are set correctly.

Hi,

Well you should be able to do that in FCP easily enough. Try creating a slug in FCP, then trim the slug to the desired length and place this over the video track that you want as the background. Next, apply the BCC filter to the slug and set it up to generate the desired effect.

Alternately you can split the clip where you need the effect using the razor tool, then apply the BCC filter to the razored (new use of the noun razor as a verb!) portion of the clip. The advantage to this is that the render time is minimized to just the few frames where you have applied the effect.
