    Hi Tom,

The only way to handle this is to enable the PixelChooser in the filter and set the Matte to Luma.

    I hope this helps,

    Peter.

    Hi Edan,

I tried to do that (and thought it went up there) but apparently it failed to upload. Please send me an email at peterm@borisfx.com and I’ll send the file to you directly.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

January 12, 2011 at 6:06 pm in reply to: BCC Extruded Text / EPS — major issues

    Hi Edan,

The reason the text was not appearing in the extruded result is that you need to convert the text to outlines for the filter to see it. I downloaded your file, opened it in Illustrator, converted the text to outlines and saved it as Illustrator 8. The BCC Extruded EPS filter extruded the file and it appeared exactly as expected.

    I hope this helps,

    Peter.

January 12, 2011 at 5:40 pm in reply to: Where is BCC and how do I use it after Installing?

    Hi Dave,

On order for this filter to show up in Premiere Pro CS5, you need to make sure that the filter exists in the MediaCore folder.

    Adobe>Common>CS5>Plugins>MediaCore

If it’s there but not showing up in Premiere then you should get in touch with support via email at support@borisfx.com.

If it’s not there then perhaps you should re-run the installer.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

January 12, 2011 at 5:36 pm in reply to: Shatter Deformer Keyframing

    Hi Mike and Marcus,

So you are trying to make the shatter happen at a specific time, right? If this is the case then you should set the shatter Time Mode pop-up to Manual and keyframe the value so that it is at zero at the start of the effect and a value other than zero where you want the effect to end.

    I hope this helps.

    Peter.

January 12, 2011 at 5:24 pm in reply to: BCC Vegas preview to render mismatch?

    Hi Marcus,

The first thing to ensure is that you are using the latest version of Sony Vegas (10c) and the latest version of BCC OFX 7.0.4. If your software is up to date and you are still seeing this issue then I’d like to ask you to get in touch with our support department so that someone there can work with you to understand and hopefully resolve the issue. You can reach them via email at support@borisfx.com.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

January 11, 2011 at 9:27 pm in reply to: UpRez in Premiere CS5

    Hi Volodymyr,

We recently updated the doc with additional information regarding use of the filter in the Adobe Premiere Pro editing environment. I’ve pasted the text from that doc herewith. You might want to make sure that you have the latest version of BCC for that host, which is v 7.0.7. If you have an older version of BCC 7 you can update to 7.0.7 for free on our website.

    I hope this helps,

    Peter.

Adobe Premiere Pro Host (CS 3/CS 5)
    • import an SD clip into HD sequence • reinterpret clip to match the pixel aspect ratio of the final HD sequence (in Premiere project window) • generate a black video slug • place the black video slug in the Premiere Pro timeline on video track 3 • place the imported media in video track 2 • apply the BCC UpRez filter to the black video • set the source layer pop-up in the filter to use video track 2
    • set the source pixel aspect ratio pop-up to match the true source pixel aspect ratio of the original SD clip. • set the frame size pop-up to layer size • set the framing pop-up to desired option (fill frame/letterbox/stretch) • set quality settings to desired option for image enhancement (sharp/smooth etc). It is worth experimenting with different quality settings to optimize the results for your indiviaul clip. A recommended starting point is to use the Magic Sharp quality setting from the Method pop-up and to set the sharpness level to 25.

Adobe Premiere Pro Host (CS 4)
    • import an SD clip into HD sequence • reinterpret clip to match the pixel aspect ratio of the final HD sequence (in Premiere project window) • the imported SD clip is now centered in a black HD frame • apply the BCC UpRez filter to the re-interpreted SD clip • set the source pixel aspect ratio pop-up to match the true source pixel aspect ratio of the original SD clip. • set the Source Size pop-up to the original SD layer size • set the framing pop-up to desired option (fill frame/letterbox/stretch) • set quality settings to desired option for image enhancement (sharp/smooth etc). It is worth experimenting with different quality settings to optimize the results for your indiviaul clip. A recommended starting point is to use the Magic Sharp quality setting from the Method pop-up and to set the sharpness level to 25.

Note that since PPro CS3 and PPro CS5 behave differently than PPro CS4 (different work flows) – due to host side differences the BCC UpRez projects created in CS3 will not open correctly in CS4 and those created in CS4 won’t open correctly in CS5. E.g. a CS3 project opened in CS4 will render black. However, projects created in CS3 will open correctly in CS 5.

    Hi Jason,

I’m not really sure if the problem is related to the use of a drop shadow or not but I’ve asked the support team to investigate the issue and to get in touch with you directly.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

January 11, 2011 at 2:24 pm in reply to: Qualified Open GL card for a late 2008 MacPro/Leopard

    Hi Tom,

The ATI Radeon HD 2600 card that you have with Mac Leopard should work with BCC – if you are experiencing a problem with that I’d like to suggest that you please get in touch with us to see what we can do to help resolve the situation. You can reach us via email at support@borisfx.com.

    Cheers,

    Peter.
