I purchased BCC 3D units to do some nice work with text and logos.

At this point I am flummoxed.

When I load the extruded text plug-in, I cannot type in the text editor. I can type something in notepad, copy it and then paste it into the editor (using CTRL-V), but I cannot type anything else. It’s incredibly frustrating.

When I load the extruded EPS — again, I can barely get a file to actually load. When it actually does, it won’t be the entire file. I’ve attached a zip file that I am trying to use — most of the icon information opens, but I don’t have any of the text and only the head of the red arrow is available. I know you need to use Illustrator 8 files, but even when I convert my AIs to Illustrator 8, they don’t load or only load some of the image. Can someone test these files to see if you can open them with with your version?

Of course I have a deadline – but on top of that – it saps your energy to continuously try and get this stuff to work.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Edan,

The reason the text was not appearing in the extruded result is that you need to convert the text to outlines for the filter to see it. I downloaded your file, opened it in Illustrator, converted the text to outlines and saved it as Illustrator 8. The BCC Extruded EPS filter extruded the file and it appeared exactly as expected.

    I hope this helps,

    Peter.

    Peter:

Thank you thank you! Can I ask you to post the file that worked? I’d like to test this out now before sending an email to my designer.

    Again – thanks!

Peter – Can you upload the file you fixed so I can test it?

    Thanks!

    Hi Edan,

I tried to do that (and thought it went up there) but apparently it failed to upload. Please send me an email at peterm@borisfx.com and I’ll send the file to you directly.

    Cheers,

    Peter.
