Shatter Deformer Keyframing
Posted by Mike Hinkel on January 11, 2011 at 11:19 pmI was playing around with the shatter deformer BCC 7 for Vegas pro and can not get the fx to happen when I zero out everything and put the key and fx at the end . No matter what I do the fx starts immediately. What am I missing here?

January 12, 2011 at 12:30 pmHi Mike,
Sorry this is not a fix, I was just responding as your issue seems to be very similar to the problem i’m having in the post below yours!
Have you tried to find an answer in any Vegas forums?
I have nothing yet but, if I do get any joy I’ll let you know.Marcus

January 12, 2011 at 5:36 pmHi Mike and Marcus,
So you are trying to make the shatter happen at a specific time, right? If this is the case then you should set the shatter Time Mode pop-up to Manual and keyframe the value so that it is at zero at the start of the effect and a value other than zero where you want the effect to end.
I hope this helps.
Peter.

January 12, 2011 at 10:04 pmI still have the same problem. There is something in the mix that I don’t understand. No matter what I try I get the effect at the start….

January 13, 2011 at 2:09 pmI’m at a loss really as to how to explain the differences in what you are seeing on your system and what I am seeing on my system. All I can tell you is that I used the following steps to generate the effect:
• Add clip to timeline
• Apply filter to clip
• Enable shatter deformer
• Set Time Mode pop-up to Manual
• set a keyframe at the start of the clip with a value of 0
• Move to the middle of the clip – set another keyframe here with a value of 0
• Move toward the end of the clip – set a keyframe with a value of 6
• Scrub clip and observe result – the shatter effect should begin at the location of the second keyframe and the image should shatter away as you progress further along the clipHave you tried these Steps? If so, what is the result?
Cheers,
Peter.

January 13, 2011 at 9:25 pmThanks Peter, I got it to work this way. My next question is the use of all of the other sets, slides and parameters of the FX. Confusing to say the least
