Hi Sinmon,

If you use theBCC filter effect you will get the result that you are describing. You’ll need to apply the BCC Transition and not the filter effect to use it as a true transition in Avid. To do this, select the transition that you want to use from the transitions category (not the filter category) and drag this onto the area between the abutting clips in the timeline. Click on the transition effect and enter effects mode to edit the look or the timing of the transition.

Hi Simon,

You can do that by using the motion tracker to capture the motion of the paint as it paints on screen and then taking the motion tracker filter with the recovered motion and applying that to the hand image track.

Hi Stewart,

After reviewing your clip, I can understand why you are seeing the result that you reported. There is nothing in the frame that the Optical Stabilizer filter can use to lock down, therefore, because of the constant camera pan / zoom that is going on, your only course of action is to use the filter in Smooth mode instead of Stabilize mode. I did this and achieved excellent results.

One tip that I have to offer is after you have let the filter analyze the clip, set the the mode pop-up to Smooth and play with the smoothing range values – increasing the value in this field will generate a smoother result, but at the cost of losing more of the clip as it is scaled to fill the frame while maintaining a smooth result over the frames that you set in this field.

So is this crash with old .eps files new behavior with files that used to work for you on that system? Has anything changed recently on the system that you are using? It’s difficult to offer much help without knowing more details regarding the system that you are using and without having direct access to the eps files that you are attempting to extrude.

I think the fastest route to resolving this may be for you to check in with our support team; they can be reached via email at support@borisfx.com. Meanwhile, if you would like to sen me one of the eps files that is crashing your system I’ll give it a shot on my system to see if that’s the cause of the problem. Hi Wolfgang,

The problem sounds simple – what is happening is that Apple FCP cannot natively read Avid .mxf files, so it lists them as offline. To help FCP read the mxf files you need to install Calibrated {Q} MXF onto the system that has FCP. You can download a trial version of the software from their site here:

Hi Sam,

I believe you have stumbled across an issue that we recently became aware of ourselves and have resolved (internally) with a version of the AAF Transfer software that we are about to make available. If all goes according to plan, we should have that ready for you to download within the next 24 hours. It will be version 2.0.8.

So please check our web site for the 2.0.8 version tomorrow morning, download and install it onto your system and you should be good to go.

Hi Eddie,

At the top of the filter you will see media wells where you can load media for the Background and the Corner Pin Source. You need to make sure to load media into both of these wells before you move further down into the motion tracker section.
