Sure … you should download the BCC 5 free trial package and install this into CS3. The BCC 5 package includes a very nice page turn effect. The free trial will operate without watermark for 14 days.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Hi Mike,

Before I can provide a definitive answer to that I’d prefer to wait a few more days to judge the results from our QA labs where we are currently testing in various configurations. So far so good though, and we’ve not seen any problems but you never know what might turn up right … so my advice is that if you are currently in the middle of a project then I’d hold off for a little bit and make the change when your plate is clear.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

October 25, 2007 at 3:11 pm in reply to: Installing FEC

    Hi,

Well the root of the problem is that you are attempting to use FEC on MacOSX in hosts that require Universal Binary (UB) filters. Unfortunately the version of FEC that you have is not going to work in these hosts as the filters that you purchased are non-UB compatible.

We are in the process of completing the work which will make the FEC filters fully compatible with the hosts that you are using on the platform that you are working with, meaning that the FEC filters will be Universal Binary with the next release.

If you purchased recently you will most likely qualify for a free upgrade to the UB version when it is released.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

  • Hi,

I don’t personally know of an area where you may download skins for the sphere that you are creating but I do know that you can use any media element that you can import into RED as a skin, therefore you can use one of the presets from the built-in library browser to create the look that you are looking for. What look exactly are you trying to generate? What do you want the ball to look like? If I know this then I may be able to offer further assistance by generating a settings or project file that you can open and disassemble, which would teach you how to do this for yourself.

You may email me privately if you like at

    Cheers,

    Peter.

  • Hi,

Well the answer depends upon what product are you using to create the Sphere.

If you’re using BCC in After Effects then the image to which the BCC Sphere filter is applied is automatically the image or skin of the sphere that you create. If you are using RED to do this, then the image must be set manually, which is done by twirling down the shape track to reveal the face sub-track. (click on the arrow next to the Sphere track in the timeline) Then click on the V1 icon on the face sub-track and select that media that you want to use from the desktop.

    I hope this helps.

    Peter.

    Hi,

Well it’s in progress, but that’s about all I can say about it. 🙂 We are hopeful that it’ll be out before the end of the year.

October 16, 2007 at 6:53 pm in reply to: Using BCC5 Open GL lens flair in FCP/Motion

    Hello,

We’ve tried to reproduce this issue in house and have not been able to replicate. So … I know that you’re having a problem with your project so could you please send us your motion project (with slug media) and we’ll use that to reproduce the issue that you are reporting.

You can send the project (zipped) to me at and I’ll send it down to QA / support to take a look.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hi,

I’ll pass this along to support and ask them to see if they can reproduce the problem as described by you. It does seem rather odd that this would be happening. Is it only the bcc lens flare filter that has this problem or are any of the other filters in the package exhibiting the same issue? Is there a preference in Motion to control the PAR and if so has this been set correctly?

    Thanks,

    Peter.

October 16, 2007 at 6:12 pm in reply to: Alpha channels with BCC revisited

    Hi Chris,

There is a pop-up toward the bottom of the BCC Glint filter that is labeled “Glint Background”, which needs to be set to the background against which you would like to composite. Set the background layer in the pop-up and you should see the glints appearing on the foreground element with alpha over the background element. The Glint Preserve Alpha parameter just below this pop-up is there to control the amount of glint that spills over the alpha and onto the background element in the composite, with a setting of zero clipping the glint result to within the alpha confines and setting of 100 allowing the glints to completely spill over onto the background unclipped.

I hope this helps – please let me know if it work for you.

    Cheers,

    Peter.
