Hi Greg, it almost sounds like the Expander is not connected. Why dont you first remove it from the config and see how the system performs with just the Q4000, Decklink and the RAID controller. If that looks fine add the Cubix without the FC card as its bandwidth looks too low. I’m also assuming you have the correct CUDA drivers for your OS.

Hi Kent, first allow me to put you at ease. Resolve has been used for TVC grading for years and in facilities with multiple systems. We do this in our own post house.
The database structure works and is just different to what you are familiar with. It permits the other Resolve seats to see and open other projects and different users to naturally see their own but also import other users projects. I’m not sure how you want to structure your projects but in Resolve you can have multiple sessions, thats different edits, in the same project. This permits the automatic sharing of grades between sessions and is a lot faster than copying grades.
You can always export the projects from the database if you like, this is done on the Config page, and also backup your database. Use the database manager for backup and restore.
If you really do have 50 projects a day, on 5 machines, consider a central database server to share all the projects and then you automate the backups using standard IT practice.
Finally, some clients make a new database per month just to keep them small, some do per feature film or TV series for easy of sorting, but in six years we haven’t experienced anyone who needs to make a new database every week let alone one per day.
That being said, we will look into other project saving options to see how viable they are.

Hi Phil, this is odd. Can you please first check with a single red Epic file, then a few more and see if its the project you have or the individual files. i am assuming you are opening an old v7 project in v8 and not just adding 200 epic clips for the first time. Remember, if they are HDRx there are two for every file name.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. While there seems to be a few right clicks they do allow a non cluttered workspace and with the Resolve panels many of the functions are one keystroke away. Given that Resolve was developed from the panels perspective but more users are now using the mouse or third party panels we will keep adding to the short cuts as and when we can.

Hi, the Macbook series is not certified for Resolve. Please refer to the Resolve for Mac configuration guide for details on models that are specified. It includes the current iMac and 17″ MacBook Pro.

Resolve on OpenCL does not include Noise Reduction. You need the image processing performance of the Nvidia CUDA GPUs.

Resolve communicates with the avid eucon application which in turn communicates with the panel. It does sometimes take a minute for the apps to connect and you can check this on the eucon app.
One issue may be the ip address thats set for your system, panel and others on the network. If there are conflicts with the ip address it would take a little longer to connect.

Part of the answer lies in the source bit depth and part in the destination.
10 bit log DPX files have been the industry standard for many years for film out or DCP.
If you start with 8 bit .mov there is no point making a 16 bit render unless the next system in the workflow needs it.
