    Hello,

What do you thing of that ?

For a Canon 5D Mark II -> 35mm print from HD DPX- what should be the bit depth for the render in DXP ? 10bit or 16bit

For a Scan 10bit DPX 2k -> 35mm print from 2k DPX – what should be the bit depth for the render in DXP ? 10bit or 16bit

For a R3D 4.5K -> 35mm print from 2k DPX – what should be the bit depth for the render in DXP ? 10bit or 16bit

My global question is, is it usefull to render in 16bit for material which is not in 16bit ?

    best

you will probably not get anything “more”.

unless you add greatly in correction.

Part of the answer lies in the source bit depth and part in the destination.

10 bit log DPX files have been the industry standard for many years for film out or DCP.

If you start with 8 bit .mov there is no point making a 16 bit render unless the next system in the workflow needs it.
