MC Color stability issues
Posted by Hans Vogel on July 22, 2011 at 10:16 amHi there.
We installed MC Color (EU Control 2.6, newest Firmware).
Basically MC Color works well with DaVinici (8.0.1 beta), but after restarting the application DaVinci very often is not able to communicate with MC Color. After a few restarts (DaVinci or OS) it works again. Does anybody have similiar problems and even better a solution for more reliability?
Thanks for your support.OS 10.6.8, DaVinci 8.01Beta, EuControl 2.6

July 22, 2011 at 2:38 pmResolve communicates with the avid eucon application which in turn communicates with the panel. It does sometimes take a minute for the apps to connect and you can check this on the eucon app.
One issue may be the ip address thats set for your system, panel and others on the network. If there are conflicts with the ip address it would take a little longer to connect.

July 22, 2011 at 3:25 pmHi Peter
Thanks for getting back so quickly. We have some overall unstabilities with Mc Color/Davinci. Once a function like Shift+forward works and we can jump to the next edit. 10 seconds later it does not. It’s difficult to judge if this is a ethernet, panel or Davinic/EU Control issue. The trackballs normaly just work fine. Do you have any more experiences about such circumstances? Cheers HC -

July 22, 2011 at 6:23 pmYou need to make sure, that there is no IP address conflicts. Normally MC color uses DHCP and, personally, I find it very stable a worry free. But if you have many computers on the network, your DHCP server may run into an occasional problem. If problem persists, you may need to investigate the use of manual IP address. MC color allows that as well. You can find the directions for setting up manual IP address in MC color manual.

July 22, 2011 at 10:56 pmI’ve told BMD with a similar issue. After restarting the computer, I’ll need to go to preferences, select none in the pannel.. close preferences…. open preferences… select avid artist color… restart Resolve.
THEN… it works.

July 23, 2011 at 11:00 amYep, same issues here.
Not a friend of ethernet and EuCon.
For a fail save gig on the road, I would always choose the Wave.A slice of color…

July 24, 2011 at 2:45 pmI had the same issues here, never a problem with v7.1 or v8.0. Appears only since 8.0.1. So I reinstalled EuControl driver 2.6.0 again (over 2.6.0 !!!) and everything is fine again.
