I was having a similar issue when sending to compressor. I used FCS Remover and reinstalled compressor and it’s been fine since. Have you tried to delete FCS and reinstall?

What software are you trying to capture it with? and what are your settings?

This is a very common problem between FCP and JVC ProHD. The best way to avoid the problem is to capture with DVHSCap and wrap the files with ClipWrap. You can download DVHSCap here… https://mac.softpedia.com/get/Developer-Tools/Apple-FireWire-SDK-X.shtml

Some sonys can playback 720p. The only way you can capture it with a Sony deck is to use a capture card Like the Intesity Pro and use the component cables.
The easiest way would be to hire a jvc deck or cam and capture it that way. You will most likely run into the jvc-fcp capture issues. Best to use dvhscap or you will get breaks in your footage.

You could try using the audio stretch tool in soundtrack pro. That changes the length of the audio track but retains the original pitch.

I have had this issue for years. I don’t try capturing with Fcp anymore. I use dvhscap to capture and use clipwrap to rewrap the files and then import into fcp. It seems to be the only way to avoid the dropped frames.

Thanks for the info Kris and Mike. The niche part is what I am finding the hardest. I enjoy the drama and music work the best but I don’t think that will keep food on the table at the moment. I’ve had lots of experience making ‘teaching’ style videos but I couldn’t see myself doing that forever. I’d get bored! 🙂 I really need to put more thought into that. The ‘niche’ seems to be the way to go.
