Are you capturing the footage through a deck or camera? I assumed since it was 24p that it was HDV. Is that correct? If I switch my deck here to DV instead of HDV I get the same message.
I would guess that the LP is the main issue. I haven’t had to capture footage in LP but I have heard that there can be lots of dropped frames.
You could try directly copying the LP tape to a SP tape and then capture from that.

Use DVHSCap. It’s like doing a capture now and captures the footage via FW as a m2t file. Then use either Mpeg Streamclip (free) or my favourite Clipwrap to change it into a MOV file. I have never had an error doing this.

I also forgot to say that DVHSCap will create m2t files. Use a program called Clipwrap to rewrap the footage (not re-encode) into a mov file.

I got some of these. You don’t need an adaptor and they will give you 2-3 hours each. Cheapest solution unless you want to get an adaptor, then a couple of gold mont or V-lock mount batteries and also a charger.Peter Brewer

This has been a big firewire issue between JVC and FCP. Apparently other editing systems don’t seem to have issues with TC breaks with JVC, just FCP. I use both JVC and FCP and love both of them! The solution I found was to capture the footage using DVHSCap (google it). It captures via firewire and I have never had a break in the footage. I also have a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card and capture footage with my JVC BR-50 deck using HDMI. Hope this helps. 🙂
