Hello all, really simple- what’s the ChEAPEST way to get stuff from a VHS tape to a computer? I don’t have anything otherthan a VhS player, an iMac 27 i5 and that’s it. What do I do?

That captures to H.264. It will need to be converted to an editable codec after you capture it if you use that.

The best, cheapest way would be to route it through a DV camera (if you have one). if not, then get the Canopus ADVC-110 analog to DV converter. Then use the DV/NTSC Easy setup…

Just a note; I’ve got a Canopus ADVC-110 and it’s always been very finicky; I also have an ADVC-55 and it’s more reliable, plus it’s cheaper. Get the ADVC-55 as long as you don’t need to output back to analog or get around Macrovision.
