Thanks for the info guys. Another I’ve found that seems to work pretty well is Billings Pro. I’m trying a demo now. It allows me to install it on an employees computer and it syncs up with mine and it allows me to control what the employee sees. I can restrict them from the invoicing etc. It also allows me to export the data to Quickbooks or Moneyworks. The only issue I’ve found so far is customising an invoice. I’m probably doing something wrong but I can’t find info in the manual on how to do it so I’m in trial and error mode 🙂

    We’ll see how it goes.

Good to hear Rich. I haven’t been able to get it to work yet. I have started up the trial but it won’t let me add clients. I have contacted support so I can’t try it yet. A question about it, do you use the time tracker? The one in ‘On the Job’ is excellent. Does it work well?

Thanks for the link. I downloaded it but it doesn’t work. Needs you to be logged in to a website that doesn’t exist. Since I originally posted I’ve found one called iBiz that looks interesting. I’ll give the trial a shot and see how it goes.

Thanks for the response Peter. I have a 2008 quad 2.8 Mac Pro. What would you suggest?

(Yes like everyone else, I’m holding out to see what apple does with the mac pro so I can update!)

  • Does this mean that you have to keep toggling? Is there a way to stop it happening?

    Hi Fehraz
I was still very new to resolve when I posed this thread. I discovered that if I right clicked on the clip in the media pool and selected change pixel aspect ratio to DVCPRO HD, it fixed the problem for me. You may need to experiment with the different ratios until you find the one that works for you.

Totally agree with you Rick. Experienced editors need to be listened to. My main point was that a lot of editors don’t want to learn new things which is crazy. If there’s a better way to do something, I want to learn it! Avid need to make sure that they don’t feel like they can’t improve something because of fear of more ‘senior editors’ complaining. If thats the case, they’ll loose the upcoming editing generation who embrace change. I WANT AVID TO LEAD!! 🙂 🙂

I do agree that AVID need to keep listening to the editors but if they focus more on the ‘older’ editors, this is where they will come undone. The world of Post is changing. Avid was and still is a fantastic editing tool, but now, editors are being required to do so much more. FX, colour grading etc. If there is a better and easier way to do something then Avid need to be changing the product. Why just stick with something because ‘thats the way it’s always been done’? If I can add an effect, for example lets say a film flash, using 1 click instead of a series of click where it has to be built, isn’t that a better choice?
Definitely don’t do a FCP but Avid can’t be afraid of changing or they’ll be left behind.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like Nvidia is the way to go. I have been holding off getting a new card because I’m waiting for the new Mac Pro rumoured to be around the corner. There’s talk that they may be moving back to Nvidia but was curious that if they were released with AMD, would they work.
