Select the clips and hit Option+R – see if that does it. Next you could go to the pull down menus in the render area and try all the options. Doing Render > “What needs to render” usually does it too.

    Good luck.

Had the same hesitations you have…but once you jump in with both feet you’ll never look back. I suggest going with an AJA io too. It’s the closest you’ll come to the stability of a M100 system. Good luck!

Thanks Bob, I really appreciate your insights.

Going with option 2 and a Kona2 / IO combo, would I be able to have both monitors hooked up at the same time without having to switch cables to monitor when going back and forth (SD to HD)?

Also, as far as HD goes wih upconverting all my SD material via IO to Kona 2, I’d primarily be using HDV, while still having to potentially master to BetaSP and make VHS dubs (still!). Does it make sense to upconvert all for HDV or should I downcovert the HDV signal in FCP? I know this is a bunch of issues wrapped into one post so any advice you have is much appreciated.

    Thanks again.

I highly recomend SATA too – check out https://www.macgurus.com/productpages/sata/satakits.php

If it’s in your budget go for the – Burly 4 Bay SATA Kit 1.6TB and the Firmtek Seritek/1VE4 External 4 Port SATA Host Card.

AIFF…as well as 48000 instead of 44100 which is what CD audio is. If your sequence settings are set to 48 and your audio is 441 you’ll hear the pops you’re describing

Shut down the computer then shut down the aja io box itself. Upon restart all is well. Hope that’s helpful to someone in the future.

October 12, 2005 at 8:31 pm in reply to: RAM question for FCP 5 using HDV.

Had 2 seperate bad expereinces, as did a friend who had 1 bad experience, with Crucial RAM sending the WRONG ram. Very annoying. Went with RAMJET and the service and product were both outstanding. https://www.ramjet.com/

I’ve also read from Ken Stone that you shouldn’t go over 4.5GB with FCP 5 -Don’t know what the problem would be but people have apparently been having weird issues past 4GB.

    Hope that helps…

IF you go with a BM card be sure and read this re: slots and analog interference.

If I knew about this before installing my Decklink Extreme it would have saved me months of frustration!
