First of all, like I said, Premiere CS3 takes HDVSplit files (MPEG) just fine. It must be some configuration problems you have with your system. Yes, it is too risky to do anything now in the middle of a project. However, what choices do you have? If the sync problems also exist, wow, I run out of idea but to reinstall or at least trash your preference (I don’t think that will hurt your projects).Just curious, I forgot if you mention if your clips are 24p or not. 24p may have some sync problem.

This is the joy and art of experimenting with burning DVDs. What I am about to share may not be what some wants to hear in this forum, but, it is my personal experiences.1. DVDRW is more compatible than DVD+ or DVD-! (Believe or not)
2. DVD burning and playing are 2 diff animals. Some disc will play in certain DVD players and some won’t. I choose Ridata, very compatible (like Taiyo Yuden). Try playing your disc with different players or even with your computer to see if they play thru.
3. In general, encode your video to MEPG via Premiere and burn with soemthing like Encore or other burning software like (Nero).

your problem is not the same as Raf’s. Your has to do with the stability of your system, disk spaces, RAM and perhaps premiere’s ability to handle long video as well as possiblity exam closely with your timeline, figure out where premiere crashes, to see if any plugins were used? Again, don’t burn directly to DVD disc using premiere (the behavior may be random). Also, for burning a long video, I always disable screen saver, power management and other residential programs to minimize the unexpected.Best wish,

Is it possible you have the project set as off-line? I am just guessing. If you would try to capture another 10s or so HDV from HDVSplit and put it somewhere for us to download, we can tell you if it works on our system or not. Like I said, I have not have a problem with HDVsplit in capturing my footage to import into CS3.

Mark, like I said, there is no special tricks in setting up HDVSplit. Consider what Blast suggested. I can’t think of anything.

Glad to see you here once a while. I am not sure which Camcorder you use for this, mine is HV20 and it captures and import to PPro CS3 without a glitch. Media pending usually means it has to create a cache file (or something like that). Do you notice a rendering bar like at the right lower corner when you advancing?Perry

You will have some (noticeable quality lost at the edges and dark areas) if you do this. However, if you are to use this as a production, not to cut out the unwanted footages, then, render it out to divx or H.264 provided you have means to play them, the quality is as good as the original (to the naked eyes). However, since these are highly compressed formats, you may not be able to edit them further.

In general, PPro does not edit MPEG well, including HDV. In fact, MPEG are not meant for edit. Yes, it can be done, but PQ may be problem.
Having that said, in general, if you run into editing problems, best thing is to convert the MPEG to AVI or other containers that PPro will do a better job with.

I agree with Jim on this one. I know 10 years do not seem long, but as far as security, I tend to think tape is more secure than HDD or even DVD. How often do we hear HDD crashes vs tapes break? When HDD crashes, you lost everything, every clip! When tape breaks, you lost that tape. DVD or BlueRay Disc are more prompt to scratches and breaks than tape, I think.
Tapes is a little time consuming to search, but if one index it well, he/she can pick up a specific tape for things they want fairly quickly.

Do a search in this forum for powerpoint.
If you have MAC, I think you can export powerpoint to a .mov format, otherwise you need a screen capturer or converter.
