Settings for miniDV archiving onto HD in max quality
Good day to all!
Have 100 miniDV tapes recorded mostly with Sony DCR-TRV70 that I want to backup/archive in its original, lossless form onto external harddrives (no compressions, no alterations, no editing, no magics — just the pure 100% data from the tapes.)
Using Premiere 6.5 to capture the data from tapes, some settings are straightforward, eg, Microsoft DV (NTSC), 29.97 fps, 0.9 PAR…
However, in order to maintain the original quality that’s on the tapes, what should I do with:
1. Drop-frame or Non-drop frame option in the timecode settings?
2. Check or uncheck the Recompress option under Capture setting>Video>Data Rate?
3. Can I use 48 kHz audio capture setting, if I do not know the original camcorder setting, which may have been 32 or 48?
4. Any other advice/setting/trick in order to maximally preserve the original quality?
