You need to create a matte via your photo programs (e.g. photoshop) or in PPro, create a title with a box and make the box transparent.

I think it should be there, but would you try to look into Adobe Media Encoder to see if anything is there? (I have CS3, not PPro2) That’s just my guess.

Just to recap, Divx, MPEGs & Flash type files are all meant for delivery purposes (people to view) not edit. However, can you edit them, of course, just not frame accurate or PQ suffers. Can you convert them, of course, same issues. With proper plugins and codec (encoders and decoders) installed, you should be able to do so.
so, Numsen, why are you not able to render them out? My suspicion, if you do have the proper encoders installed, is that you are going into the wrong place to render (in PPro CS3, for example, you have render via Media Encoder, render movie… so confusing). Best wish.

If you computer is fast enough, editing in HD allows you to have extra pixels room as well as not loosing the quality of re-renderings.I have read elsewhere, yes, you can take the Camcorder down to SD and let it hardware convert for you from HDV to DV first before you bring it to your computer, however, the PQ is not as good.

That’s one option, but if you are going to edit, I will capture as HDV first, edit, and then downconvert using DVD Presets or whatever (depends on your audience).

Usually my understanding of frameserving is for rendering final product, like frameserve from premiere to TMPGENC for encoding. I think what you are saying is probable, perhaps the same but just final designation is not TMPGENC. Goto dvdrhelp.com and search frameserve. You will get the way to do that to TMPGENC, and see if you can tweak it to do with PI. I love to hear from your experiment.

What is your computer made up? CPU, RAM, Video Card, HDD spaces…

First, you don’t see any preview during capturing, so, is the recording counter ticking? If so, it is capturing, you just don’t see it. Go to the designated capture folder to check.
If else fail, download HDVSplit (FREE) to catpure with scene detection and everything.
