trashed all the boris title prefs and it’s still locking up 🙁

any ideas?

I have had it intermitently in the past and i recall fixing it by trashing boris prefs….i just rebuilt my machine this week and its the first time ive tried working on a project since and now title 3D wont work…ill do another serach to make sure ive trashed all the boris prefs

what is the editing workflow like with XDcam? i know it’s an mpeg 2 format like HDV (though i recall the GOP structure is different)….basically is it lilke HDV in that it turns your G5 into the performance of a beige G3?

That’s a great tip! perhaps there should be a FAQ for FCP PAL users…we have to remember that Apple, due to economic reasons, is always going to be USA and therefore NTSC-centrique.

FCP is great but is primarily developed for the NTSC market…I can’t see that changing anytime soon. what do you think Peter? Time for a resource of FCP for PAL gotchas?

also it may be obvious but are you monitoring the output on a broadcast monitor or the canvas? Remember the canvas only gives you a lo rez approximation. The only way to see what you are really getting is via a monior….and as Walter has said, pixelation is the unfortunate curse of the DV codec

If you’re crashing, then any recent changes to preferences, including it’s listing of most recent project, are lost and it’s probably opening the most recent project you successfully closed or quit without crashing.”

that could well be it, often when I’m working on a project it can be open for days on end – especially when leaving to render complex sequences overnight. I will try closing and reopening and see if that affects this particular behaviour.
to answer your question I only ever use autosave versions in the process of the “restore project” function which convientiently saves the last autosave version as your new main project file.

now something strange. AE7 is now no longer the default to open movies…that has now become quicktime, this after changing default in the get info window (for some reason this time it worked)

but now other files such as installers and word documents will not launch as no application has been set as the default. this is easy enough to rectify with word docs etc… but what app do i need to select in order for installers to launch?

hey there guys

I’ve been away for a few days and have only just got back. the problem I am having is that the “change all” ie default button – is having no effect. it seems that AE 7 has taken over my machine!!

i routinely repair permissions and have restarted several times to no avail. I have unistalled and reinstalled AE7 and am having the same issues.

This is really puzzling

hey curtis

here is what I’ve found so far….when i bring up the get info window for individual QT files there is an “open with” drop down…this is currently set to AE 7

i can select another app such as FCP or QT and then click the change all button to i assume make a global change to all similar files. the problem is that when i select a new app as the default and then click the change all button – nothing happens…if i close the window and then reopen it AE 7 is back as the default option….any ideas??

yes I am familiar with the get info window…it’s just that I cant find a drop down menu or check box that has anything to do with setting up a default option
