This has been driving me crazy. Never had it happen with a TB drive, but my usb3 drive is useless on the 2013 iMac. Constantly getting kicked off. Switched it back to a usb2 connector and it works fine.
No trouble with the usb3 drive on the 2013 MBPr. Everything works good there.

Do you have a tab on your workspace for scopes? If so delete it. Even when they’re not visible it brings my MBPr (i7/16gig/SSD) to a crawl. Completely different experience on my new iMac (i7/24gig). So I’ve seen it work both ways.

I used the Warp Stablilizer last week on a swooping jib shot and it completely smoothed out a bump with out messing with the integrity of the movement of the camera even a little bit. I was very pleasantly surprised.

That MBP is fine for running CS. I have one from early 2013 with 16gig and I run CC and FCPX/Motion on it with no problem. I use a Thunderbolt display and external TB SSD drives as well as a 4TB RAID. I have the 500 gig hard drive and there’s almost 250gig free after all these months. That 768gig drive is pricey and if you’re primarily talking about editing then you’re not going to be serving footage off of it so you might save some dollars there.
I picked up a new iMac just this week (27″, i7, 24gig RAM) and editing on my MBP now feels like a chore sometimes. All this after 4 days!
So why not CC? There really is a difference.

Go to your keyboard shortcuts and search “Select Clip”. You’ll be able to set shortcuts for Select Clip at Playhead, Select Next Clip & Select Previous Clip.

Did you import the clips through Media Browser?

Is there a DCIM folder on this drive? Or any new folder that you’ve added recently? I dumped a CF card from a photo shoot on one of my Media drives and it would load and then disappear. Once I removed the DCIM folder the drive went back to normal. It was like FCPX saw that folder and treated that drive as a still camera.

Right click on the clip and Nest it. Apply the crop to this new nested clip.
For the record I would stablilize the shot with Warp Stablilizer with Scale and Crop and Additional Scale set to 300% before anything else.

Start over. Warp stabilize and then zoom.
