XMP metadata support with CS4 in 2008.
Personally, when I was told CS4 would be 64-bit and I could have an HP workstation with as much RAM as it could hold I started shaking my head at what Apple was doing with FCP.

Yeah you’re situation was pretty singular. I figured it was just factory noise and wondered how PPro would handle that. It can do a lot but sometimes noise is just noise and only your human ears/eyes are gonna know if it’s right or not.

You can do this without timecode or leaving the timeline. Not sure how complicated your timeline is but I would just move each clip’s video and audio parts to clear tracks (this is to avoid slipping and losing sync). Then drop the boom audio on a track beneath the on-camera audio. Synchronize by audio, trim the boom track to fit the video, drag it up over the on-camera track, link the two and you’re good to go.

(/)will mark the selection and (‘) will extract the clip, close the gap and put the clip on your clipboard for pasting.
Throw in (D) for select clip at playhead and it becomes a pretty quick operation.

Highlight one of the newly created clips (MC Sequence) right click and select New Sequence From Clip.

I mark everything in Prelude. And subclips sync just as easy as complete clips. Very easy to stay organized.

Yeah. Here’s my workflow-select a Cam1 clip, select a Cam2 clip, select the Audio clip right click and choose Make Multicam clip. Synchronize by audio, rename, choose audio behavior. Right click on this new clip and choose Make New Sequence. Open up the Multicam interface and start cutting. Any troubles with audio can be addressed by right clicking on the Multicam clip and choosing Open In Timeline. There you can patch tracks, mute, duplicate tracks, whatever. I even do this to drop quick Lumetri looks on the clips so I can get a grade on the Multicam output while I’m editing.
